K2 successfully project manage the Mammography Service Upgrade at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill
K2 is proud to see the successful completion of the £748k refurbishment upgrade of the Mammography Service at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill where we delivered full Project Management services.
K2 ensured successful project delivery by ensuring tight control of budget, programme and quality. The upgrade of the mammography unit required the replacement and upgrade of the current analogue equipment with a digital mammography unit. Completion of the project will ensure the service provided at ESH provides both more choice and faster diagnosis of patients
The programme was time critical and it was imperative to ensure continuity of mammography services and minimise disruption to existing X Ray services. It was also critical to ensure that there was a close liaison between clinicians, design team and the contractors.
Alison Cumberland, K2 Project Manager said: “We are delighted to see the completion of the Mammography Service upgrade reinforcing our major refurbishment capability for NHS Trusts. The successful delivery of the project was achieved through careful cost and programme management and minimal disruption to the clinical operation and will now lead to significant improvements to patient service.‘

Meet our new team member Alexander Elias
A warm welcome to Alexander
Alexander has joined the K2 Consultancy team based in Farringdon and will be working predominately on the Jardine Motors Group & Unite Projects as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
"Having graduated with a degree in Quantity Surveying, I have developed the necessary skills and attributes to conduct my job more effectively by gaining on-site experience working within both the public and private sectors.
My career highlight would most definitely be working on a high-end renovation project within the prestigious Albert Court Mansions along Kensington Gore in West London.
Being directly involved in the entire construction process was gratifying as my principal duties included advising on all aspects of measurement and costing, procurement strategy, supply chain management and final account analysis.
I enjoy a game of tennis, hate cricket and am currently training to compete in an Ironman in September. There is no doubt in my mind that K2 Consultancy is one of the most innovative and dynamic companies currently in the marketplace. Just look at their outstanding portfolio."

Richard Mould, Associate at K2 Rider Hunt said:
“The project is a reflection of the strong alliance and teamwork between the client, IET, the design team, Project Manager, Contractor and K2 Rider Hunt. Having worked closely with the IET since 2011, we recognised this was far more than a construction refurbishment project – and we maintained a constant dialogue with representatives from the IET from the outset."

IET reopened for events, following over two years of closure. The refurbishment saw the venue increase its capacity and offer more cutting-edge technology for events. The Kelvin Lecture Theatre, which has retained its original mahogany panelling, now seats 451 delegates, while the new, more contemporary Turing Lecture Theatre has opened on the second floor with space for 190. K2 is pleased to once again part sponsor the British Sprint Championship contender Steve Miles.
An interview with Steve Miles
| John Setra, MD K2 Consultancy with Steve Miles |
Tell us about yourself? How did you get involved in competing?
What is sprinting?"I've always enjoyed practical playing with cars and built a kit car some 20 years ago, and just stepping up the speed and thrill, since 2000 I have been competing in the British Sprint Championship in a single seater racing car. I am the driver, mechanic and I’ve developed the car into one of the top three fastest two litre racing cars in the country."
"Sprinting is a ‘car against the clock’ discipline and we typically run just under 2 laps from a standing start. 0-60mph is around 2.8 seconds and peak speeds of 155mph, so enough to keep you concentrated!"How have you been doing in the races previously?
"Last year I came 5th place and so will be running number 5 on the car in 2016. There are often F1 engined cars to compete against which is always satisfying when you can beat them."What are your goals for 2016?
"This year I am looking to beating last year’s personal bests and seeing where we end up overall – top 2 litre would be the target.Tell us about the season and where the races will take place?
I am really excited about the season as the aerodynamics of the car have hopefully been significantly improved, which should result in lower lap times."
"Typically the season runs from March – October and covers the whole of the UK, including Northern Ireland we shall be competing at the big circuits during the season."
Here is the schedule:
If people want to watch a race where can they get more information about attending?28.03.16 Croft

"Drop me a line at smiles@moleracing.com or have a look at the website, www.moleracing.com.... and finally why “Moleracing”?
"I was called ‘moley’ for years on account of what I look like first thing in the morning without my glasses!"We also interviewed John Setra, MD at K2 ...
How long have K2 been associated with Mole Racing?
"As good friends, Steve and I have known each other for nearly 30 years! K2 have supported Mole Racing for over 5 years now and have seen massive improvements in both the car & driver!"Do you have any forecasts for this season?
"Yes – definitely a top 6 finish this year, given the big improvements to the car over the winter season."

K2 hosted a table at the Alexander Jansons Foundation charity event at Home House, Portman Square, London
The dinner was followed by a Q&A session with Zinzan Brooke, New Zealand’s International Rugby Union Legend. A total amount of £5626 was raised.
The Foundation has pledged money to fund research into the causes, prevention and cures for Myocarditis and ultimately to produce a research paper to be published in medical journals. New Development at 350 Basingstoke Road, Reading

K2 Consultancy are pleased to deliver the multi-million redevelopment at 350 Basingstoke Road, Reading – a prime food and leisure development due to open early 2016.
Janson’s Property purchased the freehold interest of this site and undertook the development. The scheme is funded by Jansons in partnership with William Pears Group.
We acted on behalf of Janson Property provided Development Management, Project Management, Cost Consultancy, Employers Agent and CDM Coordinator
Our involvement commenced just as the site had been acquired after which we engaged with agents and potential occupiers before concluding an optimum site arrangement for Aldi, a discount supermarket chain, Green King pub/family restaurant and Pure Gym in two purpose built buildings.
K2 led the process and managed the development and completion of the commercial elements including obtaining planning permission, design, procurement and construction process, all consultant and contractors, reporting to Jansons Development Director. Our input extended to the legal agreements, Heads of Terms and Agreement for Lease as well as arrangements for the investment sale including the Development Agreement.
We ensured successful project delivery and maximised return. By adopting a cost-focused design process and implementing a robust commercial approach, the buildings were successfully fully let prior to demolition commencing of the previous office buildings.
Phillip Jemmison, Assistant Director of K2 commented: “We are thrilled to see the completion of this development, reinforcing our capability. The project is a result of our drive to properly understand our client's needs and implement robust project cost management practices to ensure that the client’s delivery requirements were met.”
A toast to the successful development at 350 Basingstoke Road
Christmas cheer came to Basingstoke Road, as a German style market marked the completion of a retail development. On Wednesday 3 December, property investors and developers from Jansons held the Christkindlesmarkt to celebrate the end of the project at 350 Basingstoke Road in Reading.

The location is now home to a 'prime food and leisure development' featuring an Aldi store, Pure Gym and a Hungry Horse pub.
K2 acted on behalf of Janson Property provided Development Management, Project Management, Cost Consultancy, Employers Agent and CDM Coordinator.
In 2014, Jansons Property was granted planning consent for the 39,817 sq ft retail and leisure redevelopment, on the site of an empty office building next to Morrisons.

K2 Consultancy are delighted to welcome Marc Wrona, our new Assistant Project Manager
Marc started on Monday 16th Nov and will be working on a variety of projects including Hale Village and Unite Student Developments.
Introducing Marc
“I started my career at Betfair where I worked for the past 10 years as a Project and People Manager, specifically in charge of all major international football tournaments such as the World Cup and Euros.
After leaving the company I decided to switch industries to an area I had more interest in and something a little more related to what I studied at university – the Built Environment.
Having completed a secondment at London & Regional Properties where I worked as an Assistant Project Manager involved in some high end residential schemes and Cliveden Manor House (which won the AA Hotel of the Year last month), I gained the opportunity to join K2 Consultancy as an Assistant Project Manager.
I found the role through a friend of mine, Paul Jackson, who similarly joined from a non-construction based background. I was very impressed with the fact that the company provide this opportunity to hard working, driven and motivated individuals even though they are not specifically from the industry yet do have transferable skills. It is quite rare to find a company who have such an ethos so I was incredibly keen to join.
Through friends in the industry I also heard that K2 Consultancy were well respected, had a broad range of projects and were a successful growing company, which naturally attracted me further.
I am very much enjoying my time here, the varied workload and the incredibly friendly and helpful staff and I am also looking forward to furthering my knowledge with a part time flexible MSc Project Management course. I live in Ealing, have been married for 2 years and have a delightful, if somewhat demanding 1 year old son!”
